Clay County Pachyderms Sponsor Honor Flight at January Meeting

The January meeting of the Clay County Pachyderms will be held on Thursday, January 12, from 6 to 7:30 PM, and feature Gary Lint who will discuss the Honor Flight Network of Kansas City. 

Honor Flight is a charitable organization formed to thank and honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices by flying then to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials. The veterans fly absolutely free, with priority to those who are terminally ill and senior in age. The Pachyderms will take a free-will collection to assist the next Honor Flight, scheduled for April, 2012.

In addition, Ben Wierzbicki, Chairman of the Clay County Republican Central Committee, will be on hand to provide an update on Central Committee activities and to describe the plans for a successful Republican year in the 2012 elections

Clay County Pachyderms Welcome Back Writer Jack Cashill

Jack Cashill will address the Clay County Pachyderms at their December meeting on Thursday, December 8, from 6 to 7:30 PM.  Cashill is an independent writer and producer and the Executive Editor of Ingram’s Magazine, Kansas City’s premier business magazine. 

Cashill has also written for Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Weekly Standard, AmericanThinker.com, and regularly for WorldNet Daily.  In addition to publishing a collection of essays and a novel, Cashill has written numerous non-fiction books.  Three of them have cracked Amazon’s top-ten list within the past seven years.  His latest book, Deconstructing Obama” The Life, Loves, and Letters of America’s First Postmodern President, discusses whether President Barack Obama has written his own books and speeches.  Cashill has produced at least a dozen documentaries for regional PBS and national cable channels, including the Emmy Award-winning The Royal Years, and he has hosted local and national daily talk radio shows.

Pachyderm Club Features Kauffman Foundation and Collects for Northland Charity

The Clay County Pachyderm Club meets this month on Thursday, November 10, and will feature Cameron Cushman of the Kauffman Foundation.  Headquartered in Kansas City, the Foundation enjoys a national reputation as a think tank for entrepreneurship.  Mr. Cushman will discuss the Foundation’s current initiatives aimed at catalyzing an entrepreneurial society in which job creation, innovation, and the economy flourish and alsoat improving the education of youth.
 
For their quarterly charitable outreach, the Pachyderms will be collecting child-appropriate gifts for the Northland Christmas Store.  The Store is a collaborative effort of many Clay County churches, organizations and individuals to provide a happy and dignified Christmas Season for needy families.  Pachyderm members and their meeting guests are invited to bring donations for the Christmas Store at the November meeting.

October Pachyderm Meeting with Melanie Abrajano From MO Club For Growth @mocfg

The October meeting of the Clay County Pachyderms will be Thursday, October 13, and feature Melanie Abrajano, Executive Director of the Missouri Club for Growth.

The Club for Growth is comprised of concerned Missouri taxpayers, and brings new focus and energy to the fight for smaller government and fiscal responsibility in the State of Missouri. Most recently, Ms. Abrajano served as the Political Director for the McCain-Palin campaign in Missouri, and earlier represented the fiscally conservative principles of groups such as United States Chamber of Commerce and Associated Builders and Contractors.

Radio Host Greg Knapp to Join Clay County

Pachyderms Annual Picnic Meeting

 

The September meeting of the Clay County Pachyderms will be a picnic from 6 to 7:30 PM, on Thursday, September 8, at Oak Grove Park, Gladstone.  Hot dogs, hamburger, soft drinks and water, and picnic fare will be served.  Cost is $8 for members and $10 for nonmembers.

Greg Knapp, the host of KCMO 710′s highly popular “The Morning Show” will address and take questions from those attending the picnic meeting.  The Club is also collecting personal items and toiletries for Synergy Services, which provides a full continuum of care to assist individuals and families with immediate respite from violence.

Clay County Pachyderms Feature Energy Discussion

The Clay County Pachyderms will gather for their monthly meeting on Thursday, August 11, from 6 to 7:30 PM.  The guest speaker is Paul Snider, the public affairs manager for KCP&L, who will present an overview and update on the company’s award-winning, coal-fired power plant, IATAN 2.  New technology allows KCP&L to deliver affordable, reliable, and sustainable electricity to the region.  Snider will also discuss general issues facing the energy sector.

In addition, Representative Ryan Silvey, the Missouri House Budget Chairman, will be on hand to discuss the upcoming special legislative session called by Governor Nixon.

The June meeting of the Clay County Pachyderms will be Thursday, June 9, and feature a legislative session wrap-up by Clay County’s Republican State Legislators.

The state representatives and senators will review and share their reflections on the recently-concluded legislative session, with special focus on implications and impact on Clay County and the Northland in general.

The May meeting of the Clay County Pachyderms will be held on May 12th and feature Chris Kuehl.   An authority on economic issues, Dr. Kuehl will address the current state of the economy and provide a well-informed forecast on where it is headed.  The club will also be collecting clothing for the Clay County Clothes Closet at the meeting.

 

Dr. Kuehl is regularly sought out by local and regional media outlets for his economic insight.  He is the co-founder and Managing Director of Armada Corporate Intelligence, which provides strategy foundation, competitive intelligence, business analysis and economic forecasting for a variety of national and international corporate clients.  He holds a Ph.D. in Political Economics from the University of Kansas.  Dr. Kuehl has taught at several U.S. and foreign universities and has spoken at over 300 organizations domestically and internationally over 25 years.

Clay County Pachyderm April Monthly Meeting

The April meeting of the Clay County Pachyderms, to be held on April 14th, will feature an interesting program on the Northland’s growth and development presented by Kyle Elliot of the City Planning & Development Department of Kansas City.

The program will highlight that, based on the latest census figures and projections, the Northland in recent years has experienced as much growth and development as in any other area in the Kansas City metro area. This trend is anticipated to continue for the foreseeable future.
